This is a picture I took last semester when it had rained all night and had flooded many streets in Wichita. I remember waking up and finding that my backyard looked like a swimming pool and that the entrance to my neighborhood looked like a moat.
This picture was actually taken later in the day as I was walking around my neighborhood lake and found that the path disappeared into the lake.
I thought this picture/experience was "note worthy" as well as interesting not just because it is odd to see a sidewalk going into a lake but because of the experience of seeing people getting stuck in the streets and seeing the negative side of the weather and then coming home and finding the beautiful side of it. Which I think is how most things in nature are, where they have a tragic side but then a beautiful side.

  1. This is a very compelling photograph and a nice example of noticing the irony inherent in nature.

  3. This picture is really amazing! It is something that you do not see everyday. Sidewalks are not usually an entryway into water... But surprisingly I have had his very thing happen at my house, and for a short period I was living on a penisila. Its a great shot!

  4. This photo is amazing. I can see the beauty that comes through the irony of the storm. this actually looks like two images combined but it doesn't feel like it... it flows so naturally. I love it! Great work!
